ECEWS, in collaboration with the National AIDS and STDs Control Programme (NASCP) and the Osun State AIDS and STDs Control Programme (SASCP), successfully conducted a three-day Training of Trainers on the newly revised HIV Health Sector M&E tools in Osogbo, Osun State. The training brought together stakeholders, technical officers, M&E personnel, and healthcare providers to strengthen capacity in HIV program documentation, reporting, and service delivery.

The training focused on key HIV program areas including HIV Testing Services (HTS), Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT), Adult ART, and Pre-exposure Prophylaxis ( PrEP) and Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) services. Participants were introduced to revised national data collection tools and updated reporting processes aligned with the National Data Repository System (NDARS). Facilitators emphasized the importance of accurate, timely, and complete documentation in improving program performance and accountability.

Interactive sessions covered HIV testing procedures, PMTCT service delivery, STI and viral hepatitis tools, ART care card updates, and NDARS data validation. Practical breakout sessions enabled participants to apply knowledge through real-life case studies and hands-on completion of revised registers and reporting tools. Discussions also highlighted Nigeria’s transition toward increased government ownership of the HIV response.

A major highlight of the training was the simplification of HIV M&E tools from 22 to 11, aimed at improving usability and data quality across service points. The training concluded with post-tests, stakeholder closing remarks, and renewed commitment from participants to strengthen HIV program implementation and data management across Osun State.
