Guided by the State Management Team, the ECEWS team in Northern Cross River State collaborated with the Cross River State Health Insurance Agency (CRSHIA) during the recent enrolment of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in the cluster on 9th July 2026. The effort aimed to ensure that all eligible recipients of care were enrolled in the free health insurance scheme. The ECEWS team worked closely with CRSHIA staff to prioritize PLHIV from the cluster for enrolment, granting them access to free healthcare services.

The Obanliku team held a strategy meeting with CRSHIA staff, the Director of Obanliku Primary Health Centre, and other Officers in Charge of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to plan the best approach for mobilizing communities and ensuring a smooth enrolment process. The exercise was conducted ward by ward, with enrolment forms distributed according to each PHC; forms specifically designated for PLHIV were handed to the ECEWS representative present at the meeting. The Obanliku team subsequently tracked eligible clients, assisted them in completing their forms, and returned the forms to CRSHIA for processing.
CRSHIA completed the enrolment process and issued identification slips to those successfully registered. Enrolled PLHIV now have access to health insurance and free healthcare services, easing some of the financial burden they face in accessing care. Enrolment remains ongoing, with the team continuing to reach out to eligible clients to facilitate registration. Clients without a National Identification Number (NIN) are also being encouraged to obtain one, as this is a prerequisite for enrolment.
