Strengthening efforts in promoting community health, ECEWS joined the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Akwa Ibom State Command, in the Anti-Drug Advocacy Walk held on 27th of June to commemorate the 2026 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The advocacy event, themed “The World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses,” brought together government agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to raise public awareness on the growing burden of substance abuse and the need for coordinated, evidence-based responses. ECEWS’ participation reinforces its commitment to supporting multi-sectoral approaches that promote healthier communities and improve public health outcomes across Akwa Ibom State. 

The advocacy walk further highlights the importance of prevention, education, strategic partnerships, and community engagement in addressing the evolving challenges of drug abuse. By collaborating with the NDLEA and other stakeholders, ECEWS continues to contribute to initiatives that protect vulnerable populations, strengthen community resilience, and promote healthy lifestyles. The engagement reflects the organization’s broader commitment to advancing health, well-being, and sustainable development through collaborative action beyond HIV programming.
