The Excellence Community Education Welfare Scheme (ECEWS) was prominently represented at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80) in New York, with our Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andy Eyo, actively participating in a high-level side event hosted at the Nigeria Mission House.
The event, which became one of the most notable gatherings on the margins of UNGA, brought together senior government officials, global development leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders to highlight Nigeria’s progress and ongoing reforms across diverse sectors.

ECEWS’ participation, through the presence of Dr. Andy Eyo, underscored the organization’s growing relevance as a trusted development partner, not only in Nigeria but also within the broader international development community. The event provided a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and the strengthening of strategic partnerships that align with ECEWS’ mission of improving health outcomes and advancing social welfare.

During the side event, speakers outlined achievements and strategies across multiple thematic areas—many of which intersect with ECEWS’ areas of work:
The side event provided a unique opportunity for Dr. Andy Eyo to engage with key decision-makers, including ministers, state governors, agency heads, and international stakeholders. These interactions pave the way for potential collaborations in strengthening Nigeria’s health systems, expanding access to social services, and aligning national priorities with global development agendas such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The 80th Session of the UN General Assembly and its Nigeria-led side event provided ECEWS with an invaluable platform to align its work with broader national and global development priorities. The engagement reflects our commitment to advancing health, education, and social welfare, while building sustainable partnerships that ensure no one is left behind.

ECEWS will continue to leverage such opportunities to share lessons from its field experience, showcase impact, and forge collaborations that drive positive change for communities across Nigeria and beyond.
Care doesn’t stop at handing over medication. Before refilling ARV drugs for HIV treatment, health workers take time for one-on-one conversations.
Through ongoing adherence counselling at primary health centres, ECEWS works with health workers to strengthen quality care.
