ONGOING Project

On this project, ECEWS deploys various intervention in finding ACTIVE TB Cases such as Targeted Community Outreach, Community Screening by PMVs, House – to- House/Tent-to Tent and Household contact Management.

As at March 2021, a total of 442,287 individuals in the 15 LGAs of Akwa Ibom, Delta, Imo, Bayelsa and Cross River States were screened for tuberculosis with 28,635 presumptive cases identified. A total of 25,150 (116%) had their sputum samples analyzed using gene Xpert/AFB and this resulted in 1,277 (111%) laboratory confirmed tuberculosis cases identified, notified and 1,247 (121%) placed on treatment.

Also a total of 1,674 cases of all forms of TB were diagnosed and 1,646 (129%) initiated on treatment within the reporting period through targeted community outreaches, house-to-house case search and household contact investigation strategies.
