Past Project

ECEWS key project intervention on this project included: Capacity Building, BCC & Condom Programming A total of 15 nascent KP led Community Based Organizations comprising of 5 People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) led CBOs, 5 Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) and 5 Female Sex Workers (FSW) had their organizational capacity strengthened through training of their staff and overall systems strengthening. 

A total of 1,159 number of KP staff were trained on leadership and management (16), Paralegal services (25), Finance and Human Resource Management (16), Safety and Security(229), Advocacy and Human Rights(343), monitoring and evaluation(53), resource mobilization and proposal writing (17), Organizational growth and institutional development (346), strategic collaboration and partnership (17), Governance (48) and finance, procurement and logistics management and internal quality control (49). 

The 15 nascent KP-led CBOs were supported to implement HIV interventions within their communities through the organizational development and Linkages to HIV services including prevention, care and treatment and SFH supported one-stop shop center for HIV care and treatment for those testing positives. ECEWS through this project supported the establishment of 5Key population technical working groups and networks in Anambra, Enugu and Imo, Lagos, and Oyo states. 

The key population were able to provide support for HIV prevention and treatment services to community members with 2,415 KPs linked to HIV testing services with 12.3% positivity rate which is similar to recent high rates observed and published in the NAISS 2019 report
