Past Project

ECEWS leveraged on her expertise and experience in community engagement, team building, advocacies, training, and adolescent and youth engagement in the implementation. The Adolescent Girls and Young Women intervention has been a rewarding and impactful project which has contributed to the National Response in reversing the HIV trend especially among young people. The project success and achievement includes the following;

  • Capacity building of 865 Adolescent Girls and young Women (AGYW) age 15-24 to carry out HIV services in communities
  • 155 mothers of adolescent girls and young women trained on parent child behavioral change communication skills as well as sexuality education.
  • 58, 021 AGYW were reached with HIV Testing services as well as STI management and treatment.
  • 598 positive clients were all placed on drugs and their viral load were suppressed.
  • 219 STI cases including Gonorrhea were all treated, thereafter they were trained on condom use
  • 25 Non-traditional condom outlets was establish in communities as a condom programming approach for AGYW to have easy access to condom use. In this intervention, business entrepreneurs and artisans were used to provide condoms at street kiosks, hair dressing saloons, and hot spots.
  • ECEWS built the skills of 57 Adolescent friendly health providers in PHC to carry out counseling and HIV services for referred AGYW to the facilities.
